CANEX supports local volunteers
By Kasia Trautrim, PSP Ottawa
Once again this year CANEX is providing $4,500 to the Military Family Resource Centre-National Capital Region (MFRC-NCR) and Personnel Support Programs Ottawa (PSP) in support of their volunteer recognition event.
Every year, both MFRC-NCR and PSP organizations join forces to thank individuals in the community who have volunteered their time and energy to assist in the planning and the delivery of community programs and services to military members and their families. Then CANEX comes in with funds to allow the organizing committee to say thank you in a memorable way. The funding provided not only recognizes adult and youth volunteers for the important work they do in our local Defence community, but also provides an opportunity for MFRC-NCR, PSP and CANEX personnel to work together to foster a collaborative partnership.
“This event represents a fantastic opportunity for various entities under CFMWS to partner up and offer volunteers a fun activity designed for them. We could not serve those who serve the way we do without our volunteers’ hard-work and dedication. This is our token of appreciation”, explains Luc Girard, Senior Manager for PSP Ottawa.
Past events have included carnival nights, TGIF and brewery tours, and fireworks shows at the Ottawa Tulip Festival. This year’s Volunteer Appreciation event will be celebrated under a Mardi Gras theme and held on Saturday, February 3rd at Hylands Golf Club. The event will include a meal, a recognition ceremony and entertainment. Volunteers and their guests are welcome to contact email@example.com for any additional information.
