Civilian Employees
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is an integral part of DND’s commitment to effective People Management and plays an integral role in providing support to civilian employees and their family members in times of need. The EAP is voluntary and its confidential services include an internal peer referral service and access to professional mental health counselling through Health Canada’s Employee Assistance Services. These complementary services can be accessed in the following ways:
1) Peer Referral Services:
– Available to civilian employees during regular working hours through a national network of volunteer Peer Referral Agents (RAs) – there are approximately 130 RAs at 48 locations across Canada;
– RA listings are housed on the EAP intranet site
2) Professional Mental Health Counselling:
– Short-term counselling for employees and their eligible family members available 24/7 at 1-800-268-7708;
– Trauma management services to ensure that employees who lived through or have witnessed a traumatic event receive support;
– Advisory services for managers to support them in dealing with psycho-social situations.
