International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD)

Len Bastien, Defence Champion for Persons with Disabilities, ADM(IM), and Defence Chief Information Officer, invites you to attend the national commemorative event for the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, to take place on Tuesday, 3 December 2019 at 1000 hrs in Atrium 8 (in front of Tim Hortons) at NDHQ Carling, 60 Moodie Drive, Nepean. The event will be from 1000 hrs to 1100 hrs, with kiosks open from 0900 hrs to 1400 hrs.

 

Following the theme of “Nothing without us,” the event will feature remarks from the Defence Champion for Persons with Disabilities, Mr. Len Bastien, and presentations from our guests of honour, Rian Alston, the Creative Director of the non-profit creative studio The Space Ottawa, for individuals with autism and intellectual disabilities; and Captain (Ret’d) Gaetan Lortie, 2017 Invictus Games swimming and sitting volleyball team member.

 

There will be 11 kiosks and many printed resources offering important information about diversity, well-being and support services.

 

All members of the Defence Team are welcome.

    Admission Fee:

    • $10.00 per person;
    • Children under 1 year of age free admission;
    • Free parking;
    • Those with bracelets can take a photograph with Santa free of charge; and
    • Canned food donation welcomed.

     

    How to pre-purchase:

    E-mail details (how many and names of those in party, indicate if any are under the age of 1 year old and who is your unit NDWCC Ambassador) to Faubert Sgt KH@VCDS SOF MPU@Ottawa-Hull.

     

    Payment method is cash and will be picked up when bracelets are delivered. Bracelets can be picked up at 1600 Star Top Rd, or if you are located in the immediate vicinity, they can be delivered to you.
