April is Month of the Military Child and the Military Family Resource Centre of the National Capital Region has a dedicated programming for this special month. From events for the entire family to personal development workshops, we are celebrating big!
Teens have been gathering twice this month, with a Paint Night held in Kanata on April 9 and a Board Game Night to be held in Gatineau on April 20. Most importantly pizza is included for both events!
The highlight of this month-long celebration is our Family Night Out at the Dovercourt Recreation Center on April 21. Your entire family is invited to celebrate with a free swim and fun family activities. Plus, every child will take home a MFRC teddy bear!
We are concluding this month with a workshop on Parenting Teens in the Era of Technology on April 25 in Stittsville. This workshop featuring our Family Wellness Services Team that will provide tools for parents of teens regarding the use of electronics.
“The resilience of our families and our children is absolutely what has allowed us to do the things that we’ve asked our force to do. The strength of our CAF, the strength of our nation is in … our military families,” declared Layal Dleikan, Family Wellness Services Manager.
At our events throughout the month of the Military Child we are giving away pillows featuring the dandelion; symbol of the military child. Like the dandelion, the military child demonstrates resiliency and blooms everywhere the winds carry them.
