By Col Richard Goodyear, CFSU(O) Commandant
Welcome back to work to all members of the Defence team in the National Capital Region. Chief Warrant Officer Dubuc and I hope you had a wonderful holiday with friends and family, and that you have returned rested and recharged for a fresh new year.
We are launching 2018 with a new look and name for our local news site. The Guard of Honour has been renamed The Guard and is now available at www.infog.ca with sections dedicated to local news, events, sports, NDHQ (Carling), photo gallery and community partners. As well, we have added a new Breaking News feature as part of our new three-prong emergency communications access process, which also includes an 24/7 info line (613-995-0133) and DWAN emails. We are proud to provide you with this online resource that is accessible from any desktop or mobile device with an Internet connection. I invite you to visit the website regularly for updates on your community.
In NDHQ (Carling) news, we have the final group of Military Police moving in to their new work environment at the end of January, which will conclude the current phase of relocation until the next one begins in November 2018. Construction of the KAF Cenotaph is nearly complete and it will soon be available to visit for everyone who wishes to pay their respects.
I am also pleased to announce that the trails at Hylands Golf Club are groomed and ready to welcome skiers and snowshoeing aficionados. The CAF Snowshoe and Cross-country Ski Program officially opened last week on 4 Jan for CAF members and their families as well as HGC members and their families. Please log on to https://www.cafconnection.ca/National-Capital-Region/Facilities/Hylands-Golf-Club/Snowshoe-and-x-ski.aspx for all the details.
Lastly, I invite you to have a look at the slideshow below showcasing the pictures taken at the Holidays with the Central Band Concert by our own Cpl Michael J. MacIsaac, from CFSU(O) Imaging Services.
The team at the Guard welcomes your feedback and submissions. If you have an article, event or photos you would like to share with your peers within the Defence Community, feel free to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
