By Shannon Anderson, NDWCC Campaign Leader –
The National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign (NDWCC) continues to go strong as the mid-campaign mark was celebrated with breakfasts at NDHQ(Carling), NDHQ(Pearkes) and the National Printing Bureau (NPB). Volunteers helped serve breakfast to over 800 hungry attendees, raising more than $3,600. A portion of those funds raised will be designated towards Team Rubicon, one of the highlighted charities of the 2019 Campaign.
These breakfasts only make up a small fraction of all the events that have been taking place in the National Capital Region (NCR). The RCAF paper airplane event saw contestants putting together their best designs to see whose plane could fly the furthest in the NDHQ(Pearkes) Main Concourse. The Office of the JAG Yoga event in the capital saw attendees taking some much needed time to relax during the busy transition period to NDHQ(Carling). On 31 October, 2019 CFINTCOM and ADM(Mat) held costume contests, and ADM(IE) had a Zombie shooting challenge. The JAG celebrated Halloween by holding the annual NDWCC “Just Dance” event, which raised approximately $800. Attendees were able to watch approximately a dozen dancers face off against each other to spooktacular tunes. These events have been fantastic, and the NDWCC team is grateful to everyone who has taken the time to both volunteer and attend these events.
With the Campaign at its mid-point, anyone who is still looking to pledge a donation to a charity of their choice can do so through E-Pledge up until 6 December, 2019. The link to E-Pledge can be found on the NDWCC website under the title DONATE!
New events are happening all over the city, including the Online Auction, the MPs’ Jail and Bail, two more craft markets, the RCAF Flight simulation event, the VCDS Spin-A-Thon and the Tricycle Race. Your favourite events are still going strong until the end of January 2020, including the bi-weekly 50/50 draws, incredible deals on hockey tickets, a week of civilian dress (Civvie December) and Op Dress January! Make sure to check out the NDWCC Events Calendar regularly to be in the know and not miss out on the fun!
