Since November 30, 2017, OC Transpo has discontinued the sale of the current type of paper bus ticket. This type of ticket format can no longer be supported technologically with the introduction of fare gates at O-Train stations including Greenboro. All fare media must be machine-readable to be able to open at gate fare. To accommodate users during the transition period, tickets sold on November 30, 2017 will be valid until April 30, 2018. Please note that they can also be exchanged towards Presto products or, for employers, agencies and institutions, towards Single Ride Vouchers until August 31, 2018.
The process for groups, agencies and employers such as the Department of National Defence (DND) that provide free tickets is different as Presto is not an option for one-time free single rides. To this end, OC Transpo is introducing a Single Ride Voucher (SRV) as an interim solution in 2018-2019.
To proceed with these new changes, all DND units within the NCR that provide free transit to their military members and employees will have to designate an OPI, who will need to register with OC Transpo in order to order SRVs. SRVs will be sold in packages of three and will only be available through OC Transpo initially. Each designated OPI will have to contact OC Transpo at PTO-BVLPB@octranspo.com in order to be able to receive the new SRV.
