By the PSP Ottawa Recreation staff –
Summer Camp remains one of PSP Recreation’s signature programs and as such, the team has ensured that its weekly special activities engage children in a safe environment with space to make lifelong bonds and to have fun.
Without further ado, please welcome the upcoming weekly special activities for the PSP Recreation Summer Camp program:
Our next themed week will be Shark Week, offered Mon-Fri, 22-26 July 2019. We’ve planned an exciting adventure with Pirate Adventures Ottawa on Tuesday, 23 July, 2019. Campers can look forward to a ride on a pirate boat, games and lunch on the beach and much more! We are very excited to learn what it is like to be a pirate on Mooney’s Bay. Please note that campers will be coming back to the Uplands Military Community Centre late on that day, with an expected return time of 1630 hrs. As a result, pick-up time will be extended to 1630-1700 hrs.
Our campers can look forward to an awesome adventure at the Museum of Science and Technology for Rocket Camp, Mon-Fri, 29 July – 2 August 2019. Our Rocket campers will explore the ins and outs of the Museum as well as engage in two interactive play STEM workshops facilitated by the Museum.
For the week following the Civic Holiday, it’s time for a Beach Party, Tues-Fri, 06-09 August 2019 where campers can expect to SPLASH, PLAY, and GET WET! On Wednesday, 10 August, 2019 our campers will be visiting our neighbours in Gatineau to go to Mont Cascades. Make sure to pack extra sunscreen, a reusable water bottle and lots of snacks.
Next, Critters and Adventures, Mon-Fri, 12-16 August 2019 will feature an incredible climbing wall from Altitude Gym and special guests from Rays Reptiles on Friday, 16 August, 2019.
Our campers can look forward to an exciting visit from FAN-tastical realms for ComicCon Camp, Mon-Fri, 19-23 August 2019. Our FAN-tastic campers will be sorted into their wizard house, make potions with Science en Folie (Mad Science), and meet a few intergalactic stars from a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away on Wednesday, 21 August, 2019.
Last, Mon-Fri, 26-30 August 2019, our Olympic winning campers can look forward to glow-in-the-dark event. On Wednesday, 28 August, 2019 PSP Recreation welcomes another fun event with GlowSport! Kids will have their face painted with non-toxic glow in the dark paint and play glow-in-the-dark games and sports in the dark with music. There will be neon lights and glow-in-the-dark items to ultimately light the event for the campers’ entertainment.
Don’t you wish that you were a camper at PSP Recreation Summer Camps now? Offer your child the opportunity to join us for any and every week of Summer Camp! With our specialized staff, unique location, and exciting programming, parents can remain reassured that their child is well taken care of and enjoying themselves this summer. Weather permitting, children will spend most of their day outside engaging in unique programming facilitated by enthusiastic staff.
“We have been working on Summer Camp 2019 since September 2018,” says Faith Thomson, Community Recreation Supervisor and Summer Camp 2019 Director. “My team has been working diligently to carefully select crafts, activities, and special activities utilizing the parent, camper, and staff feedback from last year. We are thrilled to be welcoming returning and new campers.”
Registrations can be processed online through PSP Ottawa’s website, or in person at the UMCC.
