Reaching top levels

By Col Richard Goodyear, CFSU(O) Commandant

We are nearing the end of February and getting ready for a busy March. I hope everyone enjoyed their Family Day this past Monday and got to spend time with their families. I am happy to report that the NDHQ (Carling) Skating Pond was open for a couple of weeks. It is now closed but I invite you to look for it to open earlier next year.

I would like to acknowledge our Fitness and Sports Instructors who completed their FORCE test this past week. Over 78% of them achieved platinum level. Congratulations to all. Please don’t hesitate to seek out their expertise in working towards your health and fitness goals.

An important part of the PSP team is leaving CFSU(O) on February 23 to go to the CFMWS headquarters and take on the National Sports Manager portfolio. On behalf of CWO Dubuc and the entire unit, I would like to bid a fond farewell to Valerie Savard and thank her for her commitment to CFSU(O) and the Defence Community in the NCR.

Lastly, CWO Dubuc and I wish to thank the Canadian War Museum for their warm and generous welcome on February 9 as they hosted CFSU(O)’s Senior Officers and Senior NCOs for a private tour of the museum, the vaults and the private collections. This professional development activity reinforced our partnership with the museum and its team.

The team at the Guard welcomes your feedback and submissions.  If you have an article, and event or photos you would like to share with your peers within the Defence Community, please contact us at gh@forces.gc.ca .
