Record number of sponsors supporting our heroes this year

By Catherine Villeneuve, The Guard –

BMO Bank of Montreal is leading over 40 event partners sponsoring the 8th edition of the Defence Community Family Appreciation Days. The family fun weekend promises to be another hit with superheroes invading the Uplands site this coming June to celebrate military families. From comics superstars to everyday heroes like our first responders, superheroes of all shapes and sizes will be entertaining members of the Defence Community. And proudly presenting them this year is BMO.

“BMO is honoured to continue to support and excited to take part in this year’s Defence Community Family Appreciation Days as presenting sponsor. We believe that there are few groups as inspiring as the people who protect and serve our country. We look forward to seeing everyone at this year’s event,”  shared Vittorio Pellegrino, Senior Vice President, Eastern Ontario Division, BMO Bank of Montreal.

Popular features such as the Mortgage Forces Campground, the midway rides, the LAV rides, the BMO Kids’ Zone and the Saturday night movie are all coming back. New this year are the sports field, the superhero-in-training obstacle course, the Games to Go bus, the karaoke night on Friday and much more.

“Co-chairing this event and celebrating our own heroes within the Defence Community is an honour. I’m proud to say the organizing committee has been working tirelessly for the past months to bring you more activities, more variety, more entertainment and more support from our community partners,” indicated Luc Girard, Co-chair and Senior Manager for PSP Ottawa.

Organizations from the Defence Community and local NCR will also be onsite to provide games and information on their programs and services. And like previous years, the committee will be hosting two prize draws on the Saturday for participants attending in the main tent.
