By Colonel Richard Goodyear, Commandant CFSU(O) –
Welcome back from March Break to members of the Defence Team on both sides of the Ottawa River. I hope you were able to relax, recharge and enjoy time with your family. We are coming back to work to a busy month of March.
Recently we had the honour of hosting their Majesties, The King and The Queen of Belgium; the U.S. Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; the Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, and the Minister for Veterans Affairs Canada.
We’ve also inaugurated the joint and combined messing area at NDHQ (Carling) by hosting a wine and cheese on March 22. The event, and the food prepared by the talented RCAF Officers’ Mess chef and his team, were a great success. Look out for details on our next event: a beer tasting TGIT on April 19.
Finally, I invite you to join CFSU(O) in the PSP Ottawa Health Promotion Pedometer Challenge from May 1-31. Now in its 13th year, the Pedometer Challenge is a highly anticipated event for NCR CAF members and their families. I fully support the Challenge’s goal of encouraging regular physical activity and fostering a culture of health and fitness within the CAF community. Small changes such as taking the stairs and going for daily walks can result in a better mental and physical performance, improved general well-being, and increased motivation to being active throughout the day. The registration form and all relevant information can be found on the PSP Ottawa website.
The team at the Guard welcomes your feedback and submissions. If you have an article, and event or photos you would like to share with your peers within the Defence Community, please contact us at email@example.com .
