VCDS Group receives first Command Badges

By Maj Jennifer Stadnyk, VCDS Public Affairs

On Tuesday, January 16th, 2018, Acting Vice Chief of the Defence Staff (VCDS) Lieutenant-General Parent presented the very first VCDS Group Command Badges to Major-General Bury, Chief of Reserves; Major-General Friday, Deputy VCDS; Rear Admiral Hawco, Chief of Force Development; Major-General Lanthier, Chief of Programme; Chief Warrant Officer Halpin, VCDS Group CWO; and Chief Warrant Officer Bouffard, Chief of Force Development CWO.

The VCDS Group’s mission is to coordinate and, when appropriate, direct the activity necessary to ensure departmental Defence policy and strategic objectives are achieved.

These badges symbolize the important role the VCDS Group plays in enabling all of the Canadian Armed Forces and the Department of National Defence.  They are a “high-demand, low-density” organization with people and capabilities that make a big impact across the entire CAF/DND enterprise.

LGen Parent has authorized the immediate wear of these badges and they are currently being distributed to all military members within the VCDS Group. For more on the first Canadian Forces Support Unit (Ottawa) member to receive the badge, please visit the Eye on the NCR section
