By Matt Hammar, IM Group Communications –
On May 24, 2018 18 students graduated from their Communicator Research DP1 course at the Canadian Forces School of Communications and Electronics (CFSCE), Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Kingston. The Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Leitrim Station Commander and Unit Commanding Officer, Lieutenant-Colonel Pascal Ouellet was the Reviewing Officer for the parade, escorted by his Station Chief, Chief Warrant Officer Greg Monk.
As LCol Ouellet presented the students with their certificates, CWO Monk had the honour of exchanging the students’ cap-badges from the “cornflake” to “Jimmy”, to reflect their transition into the Branch Family and Occupation. In addition, a Top Student Award was presented by Mr. Norm Weir to Private Kennedy for his outstanding achievements and performance in all areas, including dress, deportment, academic excellence, initiative and leadership.
To share the celebration of the successes of these students, the families of the graduates were specially invited to participate in the ceremony. LCol Ouellet made a point of recognizing the uniqueness of military life and how each family contributes to mission success. As much as each soldier, sailor and aviator has volunteered to serve, their families have as well.
Out of 18 graduates, three have been posted to 21 Electronic Warfare Regiment, with the rest joining LCol Ouellet and CWO Monk at CFS Leitrim.
Congratulations to the graduating class, and welcome to the family!
